I ask a lot of questions, and if we were sitting across each other, I would ask you what’s good right now.
I like to hear those stories, I want to pause and notice what’s growing, what bloomed, and what makes you light up.
Beauty is everywhere, and good things are not a casualty. God is good, He created good things, and continues to orchestrate beauty. It’s a perfect symphony.
By this, I don’t mean to disregard the hard stuff. The world looks and feels heavy in so many ways; we have things to hold that don’t make sense, and we still have to show up.
I get it, it feels easier to give up on the good, to stop fighting for beauty. Throwing away the dream takes away the vulnerability—it gives us a false sense of control.
In 2020, I gave up on writing. I told God the years of writing on my kitchen table before my 9 to 5 were great, but according to my timeline, I heard him wrong. I remember asking God why I couldn’t be an accountant; numbers have a perfect formula, words are messy and they follow me everywhere.
My dream of working in book publishing was getting old, and I was fine keeping it all as a fond memory.
If you’re reading this, you can guess I did not become an accountant. Fun fact, I actually walked out of accounting class my freshamn year of college and never looked back.
Friend, what He placed in your heart is not random, it’s a gift that blooms in heaven’s time zone.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17
Go back, it’s time to look again
During that season of living in apathy, I felt numb. My prayers consisted of walking with my dog, same route every day. It was as if I was waving my hand at heaven, saying, “Hello, I want to confirm I’m still here.”
One evening, as I was walking, I felt God say, “Go check on the flowers,” and I immediately knew where to go. I turned left on a hill, and this is what I saw…

Blooming, beauty, new life.
It’s May 1st, it’s time to check on the flowers—pause, breathe, and pray.
Ask God where to look because good things are blooming as you go. Heaven’s time zone has no clock, and it’s not bound by human hands.
Let’s do it together. I’ll keep writing at my kitchen table before my 9 to 5, and you tell me how I can cheer you on.
Talk soon,
Stella
“Throwing away the dream takes away the vulnerability—it gives us a false sense of control.” I was just talking to my therapist about this today during our session. WOW. It’s a nudge from God.
Oh, I love this reminder to take the time and go look, check and pause. Thanks for sharing.
